A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S FUNDRAISER

Help Compass Collective set a WORLD RECORD for Refugee Week!

“What an excellent way to celebrate the early hours of the solstice…create a Dream, break a record and raise funds for this incredible charity”. - Toby Jones

On June 21st, Compass Collective will attempt to set a new WORLD RECORD for the most simultaneous table reads / performances of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

We aim to get 200 people involved in at least 30 different mini-productions, and we need your help!

  • Can you get together a small group to take part in a table read or performance?

  • Can you commit to get sponsorship of at least £250 to raise money for Compass Collective’s work with young refugees and asylum seekers across the UK?

  • Can you join a Zoom call at 7.30pm on 21st June at the start of your reading / performance?

Take Part

Whether you're a professional actor, a student or someone who wants to get involved, everyone is welcome. Your group can be 2 people or 20. You can rehearse for weeks or just bring the text on the night. You can be sat around the kitchen table, out in the woods or on a stage. Costumes optional.

Fun guaranteed!

After registering you’ll receive a fundraising pack with all the information you need to take part and get going!

Details

If you can’t join us at 7.30 PM on the 21st, you can still take part in your way.

About Refugee Week

Refugee Week is the world’s largest arts & culture festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. Established in 1998 in the UK, this annual global festival aligns with World Refugee Day, celebrated worldwide on June 20th.

This year the theme is “Community as a Superpower”. So let’s show the superpowers of the theatre community, show solidarity with young refugees and asylum seekers and set a world record and raise money for work with young refugees and asylum seekers across the UK.

About Compass Collective

Compass Collective assists young refugees and asylum seekers to build resilience and integrate into the UK. We offer a crucial source of support and community for vulnerable young people at risk of extreme isolation. We deliver a variety of programmes to help the young people to improve communication and transferable life skills, build confidence, and move towards future opportunities in further education/training/employment. . We support approximately 350 young people aged 18-26 from over 28 locations in the UK each year. The majority are at their initial stage of immigration. 70% are unaccompanied minors. We were founded in 2018 and became a registered charity in 2021. We are youth led, with a thriving, dynamic Youth Board, Youth Leader opportunities, and paid Youth Ambassadors embedded into every programme. In addition, we have lived experience on both our trustee board and represented in our volunteer team.

For Refugee Week last year we ran a 24-hour Shakespeare marathon that raised more than £20,000. That’s the target to beat!
