NAPIER, FOLKESTONE – VULNERABLE MIGRANT SAFEGUARDING PROJECT
Commissioned by NHS England South East, this applied arts education project is being run by Counterpoints Arts in partnership with creative practitioners working in theatre, photography, writing and film.
It will include a series of creative sessions with men living at Napier Barracks in Folkestone, focussed on enjoyment, agency and self-expression.
The workshops will consider themes relating to personal safety, accessing health services, and cultural exchange and understanding – including in relation to gender equality.
A range of print and video learning materials will be produced, to be shared with other people seeking asylum in Kent and elsewhere.
The project will run across May and June 2022, culminating in a performance and exhibition for an invited audience.
Lead creatives on the project are Compass Collective, Aida Silvestri, Josie Carter, Matthew Hahn, Victor Rios.
