“The Next Step” Performance
They have come such a long way, now the final step towards their future is upon them. Come meet our incredible group of Young People as they attempt to take 'The Next Step'.
Compass Collective's professional development programme Next Steps is now at an end. Now the future awaits for them, but are they ready?
'The Next Step' is a show devised by our young people based on their journey through the programme. Showcasing the incredible progression this group of young refugee's and asylum seekers have undergone.
For the past 6 months, a group of 16 young people found a new home at the Shakespeare's Globe. Next Steps is a 6-month arts-based development programme that assists young refugees and asylum seekers with the transition into higher level leadership opportunities, work placements, volunteer opportunities and further education.
Using the arts as the central tool for building transferable skills, the programme aims to reduce social isolation, increase independence, and take each young person towards the ‘next step’ of their lives. We combine weekly arts-based workshops with 1:1 professional development support to offer a unique service that provides a supportive, connected community as well as individual career support.
The event will include the performance showcase, speeches, and of course lots of music and dancing. Join us as we celebrate the graduation of the first cohort of Next Steps.
