Dear Future Audio Exhibition

“Come, sit with us. Would you like a cup of tea? You have time, don’t you? There’s no rush”

“We want to ask you about the future, what do you see? Who do you become?”

“The future is unpredictable my dear, just like the sea...”

“What would you say to your future self?”

The table is well known for being the great equaliser; a symbol of rest, sharing and nourishing.

The table also acts to create conversation, it provides an audience as well as making a stage.

The simple large table of the installation sets the scene for the stories of people seeking sanctuary to be told.

The chairs, often undetected in the shadow of the table offer an opportunity to present the lives

of the individuals who feature within the audio piece. Using a workshop with the audio artists to

create a unique set of chairs; upcycled and painted abandoned and salvaged chair parts come

together to produce chairs with individual stories.

Together the piece looks to reflect the narrative of the Dear Future audio piece; To express

each participant taking part as individuals with unique hopes and dreams, an essential

understanding to build an exciting equal and better future together.

‘Dear Future’ was commissioned for Migration Matters festival 2021.
